The Position

The College Intern receives work experience and instruction in performing a wide variety of tasks that may include public contact and/or research; assists in the performance of skilled clerical, technical or professional duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

College Intern - Lower Level: Enrolled in post-high school studies and has completed fewer than 60 college semester units/90 quarter units 

College Intern - Upper Level: Enrolled in post-high school studies and has completed greater than 60 college semester units/90 quarter units  

College Intern - Graduate Level: Completion of a bachelors’ degree or higher from an accredited college/university within the past year OR current enrollment in a Graduate Program. 

Depending on the level you qualify for, continued enrollment may be required throughout internship.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License may be required.

Proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university must be provided.

Note: Candidates must provide verifiable proof of fall enrollment prior to the start of the internship. College Interns working during the academic year must provide verification of current enrollment each semester/quarter. College Interns who work past their date of graduation must provide a copy of their degree, or transcripts which verify date and degree conferred.

BENEFITS

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Sick Leave for every full hour worked.

Selection Process

05/12/17 – Deadline to submit application and required documents. 

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. Proof of education is required for this position. Candidates applying for Lower Level and Upper Level must submit a copy of their official or unofficial transcripts (verifying the courses and units completed) by the final filing deadline. Candidates applying for the Graduate Level must submit a copy of their degree (verifying degree, area of study, and date conferred) or proof of enrollment in a graduate program by the final filing deadline. Candidates who fail to submit their diploma, transcripts, or proof of enrollment by the final filing date will be disqualified from the recruitment
