NATURE OF WORK

A Photographer II is the full performance level of technical work in the field of photography.  Employees in this classification perform a variety of skilled photographic duties that require considerable experience in the type of work performed.  Employees in this classification perform the work with considerable technical independence in accord with established procedures and technical standards.  Employees in this classification do not supervise.

Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a Photographer III or other designated supervisor.  Work effectiveness is evaluated by observation of the quality, composition and promptness of completed work.

Positions in this classification are evaluated by using the classification job evaluation methodology.  The use of this method involves comparing assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work Sections of the class specification.

The Photographer I and Photographer II are differentiated on the basis of the degree of supervisory control exercised the supervisor over these employees. The Photographer I performs duties under close supervision while the Photographer II performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision.  The Photographer II is differentiated from the Photographer III in that the Photographer III has supervisory responsibility for lower-level Photographers.
