An Industries Representative II is the full performance level of work as a special contact representative engaged in promoting the use of products and repair services available through the shops of the Maryland Correctional Enterprises (MCE) of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Employees in this classification initiate and maintain contacts with government agencies and certain non-profit organizations in the State of Maryland for the advantageous distribution of diverse products made in correctional institutions. Employees in the classification do not supervise but may assign work to clerical employees.
An Industries Representative II receives general supervision from an MCE Manager or designated administrative official. Positions in the classification are required to extensively travel to consumer institutions, agencies, and Maryland Correctional Enterprises shops throughout the State.
Positions in this classification are evaluated using the Classification job evaluation methodology. This method compares the position’s assigned duties and responsibilities to the job criteria in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work sections of the class specification.
The Industries Representative II is differentiated from the Industries Representative I in that the Industries Representative II performs the full range of duties under general supervision while the Industries Representative I performs duties under general supervision at times and under close supervision at other times depending on the complexity of the assignment.
