A State Chemist Agriculture oversees the Section that samples and chemically tests and analyzes commercial fertilizers, feeds, pesticides, soil conditioners, composts, and liming materials sold in the State and also registers and examines the labels of these products. The employee in this classification oversees the section that determines if products conform to standards established under Maryland laws governing quality, contents, and labeling. ensures these measures protect consumers and dealers from unscrupulous or careless manufacturers.
Positions in this classification are evaluated by using the classification job evaluation methodology. The use of this method involves comparing the assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work sections of the class specification.
Samples and chemically tests and analyzes commercial fertilizers, feeds, pesticides, soil conditioners, composts, and liming materials sold in the State;

As provided by State Personnel and Pensions Article, Section 3-102, special appointment, temporary, contractual, supervisory, managerial and confidential employees are excluded from collective bargaining.
