A State Retirement Agency (SRA) Network Systems Administrator Manager is the supervisory level of work responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise hardware and software systems, in close support of business programs and administration and also day-to-day operation of Agency networks (e.g. LAN, WAN, wireless and VoIP). Employees in this classification provide timely solutions to end-user computer and networking problems of a complex nature to ensure end-user productivity. They have extensive interactions with Systems Development, Cybersecurity, Auditing, vendors, and all levels of staff. Employees in this classification supervise lower-level SRA Network Systems Administrators.
Employees in this classification receive managerial supervision from the Director, IT Infrastructure & Production Operations.

The SRA Network Systems Administrator Manager is differentiated from the SRA Network Systems Administrator V in that the SRA Network Systems Administrator Manager supervises lower-level SRA Network Systems Administrators.
Supervises lower-level SRA Network Systems Administrators;
Makes decisions on personnel actions;
Assists with developing budgetary goals, objectives and controlling expenditures;
Researches, designs, plans, configures, manages and documents medium and complex local and wide area networks and configure devices such as hubs, switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls and load balancers;
Researches, configures, manages and documents medium and complex server hardware and enterprise server applications that may use virtualization;
Researches, configures, manages and documents storage area networks, cloud systems, backup systems, audio/visual systems, telecommunications systems (phones, trunk lines, switches, call centers, IVRs, mailboxes), and advanced desktop setups, configurations and troubleshooting;
Administers user accounts and appropriate permissions throughout the enterprise;
Researches and integrates new systems as needed for the business;
Researches, configures, manages and documents disaster recovery procedures;
Manages and tests disaster recovery site;
Performs asset tracking and manages systems’ inventory;
Utilizes project management skills to implement technology solutions in a timely manner while working with other IT departments and end users;
Participates in the development and updating of IT policies, security controls, operating procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate-use, security controls and disaster recovery;
Performs other related duties.

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached. Employees may be furnished with an Agency-issued cell phone.
Applicants for this classification handle sensitive data. This will require a full scope background investigation prior to appointment. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the applicant.
Employees may occasionally be required to travel to field locations (i.e., disaster recovery site) and must have access to an automobile in the event a state vehicle cannot be provided. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.

This is a Management Service classification in the State Personnel Management System. All positions in this classification are Management Service positions.
This classification is not assigned to a bargaining unit, as indicated by the designation of S (Supervisor), M (Manager), T (Agency Head), U (Board or Commission Member), W (Student), X (Used by Agency or Excluded by Executive Order), or Z (Confidential). As provided by State Personnel and Pensions Article, Section 3-102, special appointment, temporary, contractual, supervisory, managerial and confidential employees are excluded collective bargaining. Additionally, certain executive branch agencies are exempt from collective bargaining and all positions in those agencies are excluded from collective bargaining.
