A Correctional Laundry Supervisor is the supervisory level of work in the custody, training and supervision of adult inmates engaged in institutional laundry operations at a correctional institution. Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Correctional Laundry Officers, on an assigned shift.
Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a Correctional Laundry Manager or other administrative official. Employees are assigned to day or evening shifts. Employees are subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. Work is performed in a correctional institution laundry, and employees are continually exposed to inmates who may be abusive and hostile and have access to potentially dangerous tools, chemicals and equipment. The work may involve moving objects weighing twenty-five pounds or more.
Positions in this classification are evaluated using the classification job evaluation methodology. The use of this method involves comparing assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work Sections of the class specification.
