NATURE OF WORK

A Data Entry Operator Lead is the lead level of work keying large amounts of data from source documents into a computer or onto magnetic tape or disk according to a production schedule.  Employees in this classification do not supervise other positions but assign, review and approve the work of and train lower-level Data Entry Operators and clerical support staff.

Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a Data Entry Operator Supervisor.  Employees in this classification may be assigned to work day, evening or night shifts which may include weekends and holidays.  Employees are required to work with keyboards and computer monitors for long periods of time.

Positions in this classification are evaluated by using the classification job evaluation methodology.  The use of this method involves comparing the assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work sections of the class specification.
