NATURE OF WORK

A Member of the Maryland Parole Commission serves on a ten member commission, working full-time for six year terms, that has exclusive power to hear certain serious cases for parole release and to conduct hearings for revocation of parole. The Commission can issue warrants for the return to custody of alleged violators of parole and can suspend or revoke parole upon a showing of its violation. (Correctional Services Article, Title 7. Parole, Release on Mandatory Supervision and Executive Clemency, Subtitle 2. Maryland Parole Commission of the Annotated Code of Maryland) 

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Hear certain serious cases for parole release and conduct hearings for revocation of parole.

Issue warrants for the return to custody of alleged violators of parole and can suspend or revoke parole upon a showing of its violation.

This classification is not assigned to a bargaining unit, as indicated by the designation of S (Supervisor), M (Manager), T (Agency Head), U (Board or Commission Member), W (Student), X (Used by Agency or Excluded by Executive Order), or Z (Confidential).  As provided by State Personnel and Pensions Article, Section 3-102 Annotated Code of Maryland, special appointment, temporary, contractual, supervisory, managerial and confidential employees are excluded from collective bargaining.  Additionally, certain executive branch agencies are exempt from collective bargaining and all positions in those agencies are excluded from collective bargaining.
