NATURE OF WORK

An Executive VI is an Executive Service position as defined by State Personnel and Pensions Article, Division 1, Title 6 State Personnel Management System Generally, Subtitle 404, Executive Service in the Annotated Code of Maryland.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Chief Administrator of a principal unit or a comparable position that is not excluded from the State Personnel Management System under § 6-301 of this title in the Annotated Code of Maryland as a constitutional or elected office; and

Deputy Secretary or Assistant Secretary of a principal unit or a position that the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Budget and Management (DBM) determines has similar stature.

Other positions - includes any other position that is determined by the Secretary of DBM to be in the Executive Service.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Specific educational and experience requirements are set by the agency based on the essential job functions assigned to the position.

This is an Executive Service classification in the State Personnel Management System.  All positions in this classification are Executive Service positions.

This classification is not assigned to a bargaining unit, as indicated by the designation of S (Supervisor), M (Manager), T (Agency Head), U (Board or Commission Member), W (Student), X (Used by Agency or Excluded by Executive Order), or Z (Confidential).  As provided by State Personnel and Pensions Article, Section 3-102 Annotated Code of Maryland, special appointment, temporary, contractual, supervisory, managerial and confidential employees are excluded from collective bargaining.  Additionally, certain executive branch agencies are exempt from collective bargaining and all positions in those agencies are excluded from collective bargaining.
