The Police Property Control Tech position is primarily responsible for the receiving, releasing and storing of impounded property for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Property and Evidence Management Division. This is a full-time position that includes working shifts, reporting in adverse weather, and working holidays.

§ Knowledge of evidence chain of custody, evidence handling
procedures and requirements, which may include a basic working knowledge of
firearms and firearms safety.

court procedures.
§ Proficiency in inventory control and recordkeeping.
§ Understanding of law enforcement practices, safety
regulations, and database systems.
§ Strong computer skills, including word processing,
spreadsheets, and databases.
§ Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make
decisions.
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
§ Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements:
§ Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical
condition necessary for sitting, standing, climbing, or walking extended

squatting, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling when performing tasks
§ Adequate vision, hearing, and speech required.
§ Must be able to be left heavy items, use a pushcart, and drive
city-vehicle.
Sensory Requirements:
§ Concentrated and attentive use of one or more senses (visual,
audio, and other sensory modalities) for proof reading, data entry, tabulating
data
§ Ability to operate in an environment with frequent interruptions
from people and or noises, which in return could result in some level of
stress, fatigue, or strain
§ Comprehensive of written information in work related documents
§ Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish
speech
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to
atmospheric conditions; moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as
officers, community members, victims, etc.); and frequent exposure to computer
screens, files and phone. Work includes, long periods of standing and
walking.
Other Requirements:
Successfully complete and pass
a pre-employment respirator clearance evaluation. Failure to successfully pass
all segments of the pre-employment evaluation process will result in
disqualification from further consideration under this vacancy announcement.
