Summary

The Department is seeking a Business Recruitment Program Manager to respond to RFIs, prepare marketing materials for recruitment meetings, conduct real estate searches, and manage the Business Investment Grants, as well as other organizational initiatives. The ideal candidate should be a highly driven individual with project management and client service experience. Experience in all or most of the following is desirable: real estate, economic development, communications, graphic design, and finance. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Economic Development.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Respond to RFIs from all sources 
Manage multiple prospective projects from start to conclusion simultaneously
Maintain a database that tracks all RFIs, projects, status, and action items. 
Present to clients, stakeholders, community members and elected officials 
Create a database that contains real estate options for recruitment and retention prospects
Assist with implementing the Business Investment Grants and policy revisions
Prepare visually appealing graphics and documents for proposals and presentations 
Provide exceptional client service to all entities 
Proactively solve problems and challenges that arise 
Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience in a client service-oriented role with excellent customer service skills
Strong communication skills, listening, negotiation and presentation skills
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously 
Proven ability to work as a team member and with diverse partners and stakeholder groups
Demonstrated ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced work environment with minimum direction
Experience in proactive problem solving for internal and external clients 
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ideally experience with Adobe Suite 
Ability to set work priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information
Adept at navigating the grey by asking key questions, gathering facts, and staying nimble
Ability to scan the environment, anticipate changes, and develop alternative solutions
Ability to navigate the grey with minimal oversight 
Ability to serve as an ambassador for the City of Charlotte with an ongoing passion for community work and transforming the city

Preferred Qualification

Graduate level degree in economics, public administration, urban planning, communications, marketing, or business administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree 
Three (3) or more years of experience and exceptional project management skills; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential job functions

Salary

$75,018 to $84,396 Commensurate with Experience

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
