Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with career development for the Aviation Department at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This position will assist with the coordination of the Education Assistance Programs, creating and implementing a Cooperative Learning (Co-Op) program, as well as assistance and coordination with the Airport Job Fair and Department Employee Business Meetings. The candidate is responsible for assisting with program administration, hiring, and process implementation within Workforce Development. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of the Workforce Development and Outreach Manager in the Organizational and Talent Development Division of the Aviation Department, and performance is evaluated based on program goals and deliverables, feedback as well as outcomes. This candidate is expected to take considerable initiative with a moderate level of discretion in approach and scope of work.

General Information:
Standard shift hours apply, subject to emergency and routine calls back to work.
Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a City driving permit.
Certain criminal convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with coordinating career development programs which includes education Assistance. Meet with employees to facilitate both the traditional education reimbursement program, as well as the pre-payment program; in partnership with Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC). Program implementation also includes meeting with various colleges and universities to establish and maintain various partnerships for program success. 
Create, coordinate, and implement a Cooperative Learning (Co-Op) program in partnership with identified colleges and universities within the designated division to establish and expand career pathways within the organization. 
Meet with division managers to understand both the need and impact for each student during the academic year. Establish and maintain partnerships at various colleges and universities as well as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).  Work with college advisors and career counselors, Human Resources, division supervisors, and managers to identify needs, recruitment strategies, and budgetary requirements. Assist with pre-screening applications for hiring managers as well as additional hiring needs for each student. Develop metrics and strategically plan for growth and development of advanced career programming enhancements such as a graduate fellowship program or other partnerships with colleges and universities. 
Manage and coordinate the annual Airport Job Fair. Work with both internal and external airport tenant partners, vendors, community members, resource centers, and Aviation department divisions to ensure consistency in departmental goals, as well as understanding and meeting the needs of the Airport community. Develop recruitment goals to attract talent. 
Coordinate the department business meeting. Meet with the executive leadership team, various managers, and divisions to ensure accuracy and representation for effective communication and detailed information to meet the needs of the Aviation Department. 
Develop presentations, coordinate meetings, as well as outreach initiatives to discuss and promote the department’s Co-op program, career development initiatives, Airport Job Fair, as well as other engagement programming and opportunities with various community and airport partners, colleges, and universities.  
Represent both the City of Charlotte and Aviation Department in a professional and positive manner.

Ability to design and coordinate effective and comprehensive programs with metrics for evaluation.
Ability to work independently, make sound business decisions and take initiative.
Detailed oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple and simultaneous demanding tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to develop presentations. 
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City and County departments, and the public, representing the Airport in a positive manner.

Preferred Qualification

 Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred.  Major course work should be in Human Resources, Communication, Psychology, Higher Education, Business, or a related field of study.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and three years related work experience

OR

Associate's Degree and one year related work experience

Conditions of Employment
