Summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking an Audio/Visual System Administrator with experience in managing the technical aspects of audio/visual systems for the airport.  Experience in managing audio systems that include Public Address (PA) Systems for large public venues, content management systems that display flight and baggage information to travelers, digital public art displays, and conference room equipment used for virtual meetings. Technical support will include managing operating system updates, security patching, network connectivity, system integrations, and vendor management. 

This position will be responsible for providing technical support to CLT airport audio/visual systems, working with integrators to provide sustainable solutions, coordinate system content and functionality with the CLT Innovation and Experience team, ensure systems meet regulatory requirements, and manage support contracts. This position will also ensure audio/visual systems meet City of Charlotte technology and cyber security standards. The administer position will also review and validate system designs for new construction.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage announcement schedule and volume levels for PA system that provides public messaging for the entire CLT terminal building
  • Manage operating systems and security patching for devices used to support audio/visual systems at CLT facilities
  • Gain knowledge of network configuration for audio/visual systems at CLT airport
  • Provide technical support for conference room equipment that includes VOIP phones, cameras and screens used for video conferencing, audio speakers, microphones, and digital interfaces used to switch input for screens
  • Support Nanolumens screens and display hardware
  • Support integrations between PA system and visual paging
  • Ensure CLT audio/visual systems meet regulatory TSA and other 
  • Provide support for content management systems that display flight and baggage information to travelers.  Troubleshoot content management systems issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate system changes through standard change control processes
  • Update system documentation to support knowledge base articles
  • Configure and support Crestron switching and lighting interfaces 
  • Attend training as needed to gain skills for new systems or system enhancements 
  • Professionally manage and maintain positive relationships with vendors and system integrators
  • Manage vendor support contracts

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of TCP/IP networks and IP addresses
  • Experience with support Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Understanding of managing systems that use a variety of display screens
  • Basic understanding of VOIP equipment and connectivity
  • Server operating systems and commands knowledge and experience (Windows and Linux)
  • Content management information display maintenance, troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualification

  • Six years as an Audio/Visual technical support resource
  • Knowledge of AtlasIED PA system hardware and software
  • Ability to manage priorities based on airlines or tenant needs

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent and five (5) years of relevant work experience.

Associate Degree and three (3) years of relevant work experience.

or a Bachelor’s degree with one (1) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties

Conditions of Employment
