Summary

The City of Charlotte, Charlotte Water Department is seeking a GIS Analyst. CLT Water is one of the largest public water and sewer service providers in the Southeast. We value competent, skilled candidates with a service focus to work in a team environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with the development, maintenance, analysis and distribution of large scale Enterprise GIS databases within an ArcSDE environment. Cartographic skills are required.   
The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of GIS principles and concepts. +
The candidate will possess working knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS Pro 2.x Desktop software as well as foundational knowledge of ESRI’s Utility Network design within the ArcGIS Pro environment. 
Experience editing utility data in ArcGIS Pro within a Utility Network environment is required. 
The individual should be detail-oriented and highly skilled using a variety of ArcGIS tools to prepare reports, perform research and present results of data analytics, including technology and data recommendations. 
This position will require the candidate to carry out UAV missions within FAA guidelines and regulations. The candidate must have the technical agility, focus, flexibility, enthusiasm and vision to complement and enhance the Charlotte Water GIS Team. 
The candidate must be able to coordinate, plan, and support simultaneous tasks and GIS projects; query data; prepare and deliver reports to the immediate supervisor and others. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 
The candidate will be expected to read and interpret preliminary record and as-built documentation. Working knowledge of ArcGIS Portal environment is required to share, store, and present data. 

The candidate will serve as a point of contact for Project Managers for assistance related to GIS. Department wide assistance with the use of various GIS applications will be required. Assists in the maintenance and monitoring of the quality of GIS data to meet the standards set by Charlotte Water.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience using the ArcGIS suite of products and must have experience editing GIS data. 
Experience in importing, exporting, creating, and analyzing data in ArcGIS Pro 2.x. 
Must be able to work with data stored in Enterprise Geodatabase. 
Experience reading and interpreting Engineering drawings.  
A basic understanding of Trimble Business Center is preferred. 
GIS work experience with a city or county government agency is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and five (5) years related work experience including experience using the ArcGIS suite of products.
OR
Associate degree in Geography, Earth Science, Engineering, or related field with three (3) years related work experience including experience using the ArcGIS suite of products.
OR
Bachelor's Degree in degree in Geography, Earth Science, Engineering, or related field and one (1) year related work experience including experience using the ArcGIS suite of products.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: 
Must have a current FAA part 107 license. 
Requires a valid driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
