Summary

Performs journey level electrical work at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This is a 2nd shift position. 

General Information:
• Works assigned shift (2nd Shift), plus rotating stand by (on call), weekend and holiday duty.  Subject to calls back to work and shift variation during inclement weather and emergency/urgent operations. 
• Valid driver’s license with no more than six points, and ability to obtain and maintain City driving permit.
• Must successfully pass and maintain an active Security Threat Assessment (STA) and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC). Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore from employment. 

Physical Requirements: 
Spends about 70% of the time standing, bending, reaching and walking.  The rest of the time includes a combination of sitting, twisting, keeling, squatting, crawling, lifting, shoveling, carrying and driving.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.  About 5% of time can lift, pull or carry up to 100 lbs a short distance, with another person.

Works inside and outside.  May include exposure to machinery, dust, chemicals, fumes, solvents, moving objects/vehicles, scaffolding, ladders, vibrating tools, excessive noise, large crowds and slippery or uneven surfaces.  May use heavy equipment, electric drill, electric saw, pipe wrench, pick-up truck and all hand tools.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Installs wires, plugs, lights and switches; locates and repairs malfunctions in electrical circuits and equipment; inspects, services and tests lighting systems.
2. General building maintenance work, including manual labor, incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order.
3. Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed.
4. Operates cars, vans, bucket trucks and related vehicles as needed.
5. May serve as lead directing the work of less experienced employees.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform journey level work on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints. 
• Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors and tenants. 
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of principles of electrical circuits, wiring systems and construction.
• Knowledge and awareness of specific safety concerns and requirements unique to trade.

Preferred Qualification

NC electrical license. 

Five years of experience preferred. Working knowledge of other building trades and general building maintenance helpful.
