Function

The Landside Operations Coordinator serves as operational support to the Landside Operations Division. 

Summary

The Landside Operations Coordinator is responsible for the enforcement of ground transportation rules and regulations. They will assist in parking lot operations and monitor and inspect airport roadways and curbs. Acting decisively and exercising independent judgment within established rules, regulations, and procedures are central to the job success.

Must be available to work on assigned shift in a 24/7/365 schedule. Subject to overtime, calls back to work for emergency situations and work during inclement weather.   



Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide support to the Landside Operations Division. This includes Bus Operations, Parking and Ground Transportation
2. Complete parking decks, parking lots, curbside and roadway inspections.  Complete the appropriate work orders and escalate to supervisor/manager.  Recognize safety hazards and use appropriate precautions.   
3. Monitor parking decks, parking lots, airport curbside and airport roadways to ensure customers’ needs are being met. Address questions and resolve concerns and problems, issue citation to violators of the airport rules and regulations. 
4. Ensure the smooth and efficient flow of traffic.  Direct Airport traffic as needed to alleviate traffic congestion. Provide accurate information to the public.  Respond to requests for service in accordance with policies and procedures. 
5. Assist passengers and work public areas during IROPS such as inclement weather, holidays, special events and airport emergencies.  Coordinate contracted staff during peak periods to ensure adequate transportation is available, increase ground transportation taxi services as deemed necessary. 
6. Inspect airport permitted taxi cabs to ensure compliance with contractual rules and in accordance with Chapters 22 and 4 of the city ordinances.  Complete related paperwork such as vehicle inspection reports and vehicle work orders. Monitor taxi flow at the commercial lane, facilitate taxi and shuttle loading for a smooth flow of traffic. Ensure that Taxis, Shuttles, TNC, Hotel/Motel and all commercial lane users in compliance with the airport rules and regulations Advise supervisory and management staff of operational concerns and recommend changes to areas such as staffing levels, safety hazards and maintenance issues.
7. Provide support in the permitting process for companies and vehicles under Ground Transportation Operating Agreements including inspections and affixing decals and transponders.
8. Monitor the use of TNC and Taxi staging lot, the commercial lane, hourly parking deck and Airport roadways to ensure commercial operators abide by the rules and regulations.  Recognize safety hazards and use appropriate precautions and assist passengers.   
9. Serve as a back-up for Landside Operations Supervisors as required to maintain an efficient operation.
10. Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of Commercial Driver rules and regulations. 
• Ability to analyze problems and make effective decisions.
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public, represent the airport in a positive, professional manner, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, tenants and contractors.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and complete related paperwork.  
• Ability to effectively use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and to learn other programs specific to the job.

Preferred Qualification

Experience in airport operations preferably in parking or the transportation industry. Customer service with extensive public contact is preferred. 

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and three years related work experience.

OR

Associate degree and one-year related work experience

Conditions of Employment
