Summary
This position assists in the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspections of storm drainage systems; assists in maintaining field equipment in good operating conditions by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs; safely storing equipment and following safety procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting pipe, manhole, catch basin, and structure inspections by CCTV and other methods.
- Maintain equipment in good operating condition by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs, while also ensuring that equipment is stored in a safe and proper manner.
- Inspects CCTV truck daily.
- Assists in maintaining accurate reports and records on assigned work activities.
- Understand and adhere to all city/department health and safety procedures.
- Perform work requiring physical strength for lifting heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires significant judgment in traveling; traversing difficult terrain, retaining structures, barriers, and various urban/rural conditions; encountering a wide range of animals, insects, vegetation, and weather conditions; interacting with public; and experiencing unforeseen conditions/situations in accessing and entering drainage features within the Right of Way, public, and private property. This position requires that the selected candidate be able to walk at least 3 miles per day, stand for at least 8 hours per day, remove and replace manhole lids and inlet grates, lift, push and pull up to 100 pounds, climb a ladder, bend, crawl and stoop, crawl through pipes and culverts as small as 24 inches, traverse and climb difficult Piedmont terrain and waterways in an urban environment, perform work under adverse weather and environmental conditions. The ability to traverse encountered field conditions as part of this position’s duties and responsibilities is a condition of employment. Occasional on-call emergency work may be required. Employee must be able to work occasional overtime, various shift hours. Employee must obtain and maintain trainings and certifications essential to the work assignment as directed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience with operating and maintaining closed circuit television equipment and vehicles for storm sewer inspection and maintenance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to apply conflict resolution techniques and to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
- Must understand hazards and perform work in a safety-conscious manner.
- A valid driver’s license, a good driving record with the ability to obtain and maintain a City Driving Permit.
Preferred Qualification
- 1 Year of CCTV experience.
- Ability to read and interpret top maps and plans.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduate or Equivalent and one year relevant work experience

$43,400.00 - $46,014.00 Commensurate with Experience
