Function

As a member of the GIS team at CLT Airport, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining geospatial data in the Airport’s Enterprise GIS.

Summary

This position is responsible for managing a wide range of GIS datasets including, but not limited to, building footprints, room boundaries, and airport assets. This position is also responsible for completing map requests from various Aviation Divisions. When needed, this position may be required to create GIS-based applications such as web maps or mobile applications using ArcGIS software.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Respond to requests for on-demand maps and GIS data needs for various Aviation Divisions such as Engineering, Planning, Operations and Facilities.
2. Create, edit, and maintain GIS and CAD data in the Airport’s Enterprise GIS.
3. Perform spatial analysis using geospatial mapping software.
4. Create and maintain GIS applications such as web maps, mobile data collection apps, surveys, and dashboards using ArcGIS technology.
5. Collect data in the field using ESRI Field Maps or other mobile data collection applications.
6. Participate in the Airport Design Review process which involves reviewing architectural drawings and assigning room numbers to new construction.
7. Assist with LiDAR scanning when necessary.
8. Coordinate geospatial data with the FAA, consultants, and interdepartmentally.
9. Maintain a working knowledge of applicable FAA Advisory Circulars and Regulations
10. Assist users with geographical information needs and troubleshoot

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Knowledge of ArcGIS mapping software including; ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Portal.
2. Proficient with spatial databases.
3. Knowledge of ESRI Field Maps, Survey 123 and Operations Dashboard is preferred.
4. AutoCAD Experience is preferred.
5. Cartographic skills are essential.
6. Ability to provide first-rate customer service and represent the airport in a positive manner.
7. Excellent organizational skills.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Attention to detail when editing geospatial data and creating maps.

Preferred Qualification

  • Associates degree and three years of experience. 
  • Prepared fields of study are Geography, Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field. 
  • Four years of overall GIS experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and 5 years related work experience

OR

Associate Degree with 3 years related work experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and 1-year related work experience
