Summary

The Utility Business Coordinator will coordinate the business relationship of primary utilities for the Airport. This position will coordinate with the various airport divisions to ensure that all CLT facilities are equipped with the required utility infrastructure (electricity, gas, water, data and telecom); partner with leasing agents to recover utility costs through CLT’s leases, licenses and other contracts; and coordinate the setup, location and payments for utilities with the CLT Finance and Sustainability work groups. This position will report to the Commercial & Community Engagement Leasing Manager. At the direction of the Commercial and Community Engagement Leasing Manager and tied to the Strategic Growth, Positive Partnerships and Asset Preservation principles, represents Charlotte Douglas International Airport with its efforts to attract, retain and expand commercial land re-uses compatible with aeronautical activities. Works with internal and external contacts to further CLT’s vision, mission and goals in relation to development of Airport property. Manages projects for increasing Airport financial self-sufficiency.        

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a hybrid position (minimum of two days in office and maximum of three days remote) where standard office hours apply Monday through Friday.  Additionally, attendance required at after-hours meetings, and during urgent or special situations.
  • Accessibility by phone during off-duty hours to assist in the response to urgent or special events is required.
  • Ability to pass a background check in advance of start date required.  Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the main point of contact for CLT divisions regarding electric, gas, water, telecom and data utility matters.
  • Maintains the day-to-day relationship between CLT and external utility partners. 
  • Works with utility partners and the CLT Planning and Development work groups to ensure that CLT’’s utilities infrastructure is mapped and documented so that utility connections are available when and where needed.  This responsibility includes partnering with CLT GIS to map out all utility lines and connections.
  • Partners with property managers to ensure that all leases and licenses properly allocate responsibility for utility activation and maintenance and contain provisions ensuring utility cost recovery.
  • Assist property managers in utility cost estimates to develop reliably rates to add into real estate leases and licenses.
  • Partners with CLT Finance to manage all the utility invoicing and payments for CLT. 
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement enhancements to the Airport’s utility infrastructure.
  • Prepare monthly utility usage and cost reports for internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Partners with CLT Sustainability to develop and promote CLT’’s sustainability and environmental goals and objectives.
  • Performs other property management and job-related duties as assigned.

  • Skills to create and deliver professional presentations to a variety of RES.

  • Ability to develop and manage new programs and activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, executive staff, tenants, community partners, the public and media, and represent the Airport in a positive manner.   
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and self-motivation in a rapidly changing work environment.  
  • Ability to multi-task and participate in a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, self-sufficient, solution oriented, innovative and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to supervise.

Preferred Qualification

Experience in program management, contract management or property management is preferred. Zero to Three years’ experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, economics, marketing, real estate or a related field.  

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent and Five Years of Experience; OR 2 Year College Degree and Three Years of Experience; OR Bachelor's Level Degree and One Year of Experience

Conditions of Employment
