Summary

The duties and responsibilities of the Facilities Work Request Dispatcher include a variety of functions in the Logistics area. This position reports to the Facilities Inventory and Warehouse Manager.
The Airport work request call center is an important and high activity function of the Airport maintenance organization.  The primary responsibility of this position is the scheduling and dispatching of work order requests to the Aviation Facilities department.  As a member of the Logistics area, the employee will also be asked at times to perform other area tasks involving the inventory of Facilities materials and spare parts.

General Information:
Works assigned shift, plus rotating stand by (on call), weekend and holiday duty.  Subject to calls back to work and shift variation during inclement weather and emergency/urgent operations. 
Valid driver’s license with no more than six points, and ability to obtain and maintain City driving permit.
Certain convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Scheduling and dispatching of maintenance staff or equipment to appropriate airport locations for immediate or predetermined schedules for customer requests or needs. This may include, but not limited to the following activities:
- Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to work crews, supervisory and management personnel
- Using telephones, two-way radios or electronic messaging to contact airport staff members or emergency personnel
- Communication with supervisors or airport customers to resolve any issues or requests for services or equipment 
- Preparing Cityworks workorders for staff members and GIS mapping of all requests

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

General working knowledge of general building maintenance.
A high level of clear and precise verbal and written communications skills is a major requirement.
Ability to function in a high activity area with multiple calls in a less than serene environment.
Ability to perform other Logistics activities when required.


Physical Requirements:
Spends about 70% of the performing functional responsibilities sitting/standing at a workstation and communicating through multiple communication lines verbally and electronically.  Spends 20% of the time either walking, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, and driving.  About 10% of the time can be lifting and carrying up to 50lbs or operating either manual or motorized warehouse equipment. Work is performed primarily inside the logistics warehouse cubicle areas. May include exposure to other machinery, dust, chemicals, fumes, solvents, and moving objects/vehicles.


Preferred Qualification

Working knowledge of other building trades and general building maintenance is helpful.
